Do tumbler tomatoes have to be planted in a hanging basket? Is it ok to plant them straight into the gorund?

I recently brought the tumbler variety from my local garden centre. Not knowing too much about this variety, I planted it straight into the ground. Will it be ok as it is or does it have be planted where it is hanging from a pot?
