My composter is a contained above ground tumbler. Can I add earth worms?

Probably not. It will get too hot in there for them. Bait stores keep worms alive in the frig! The heat will break the organic material down faster, though. Early spring and late fall/early winter might be okay, depending where you live. I would make a raised mound of manure, leaves and coffee grounds somewhere on the ground and in the shade, if you want the worms and their castings. Then move the stuff in the tumbler into that pile periodically.
