Crush on police officer, what do I do?

I think you should just ask him out. Not over a text or over the phone but during one of the visits. You can casually ask him out - just ask if he'd like to grab a bite or have some coffee, since it would be an inside joke with you guys. The worse he can say is no.. and it he does say no - don't sweat it, If he's a super nice guy like you say he will be nice about it. Im a police officer as well and I've had people ask me out while i was on duty and it was very flattering. just keep it friendly and you should be fine.
